Ways To Help Your Child At Home
Read to your child and talk about the book you read.
Ask your child to retell the story.
Make predictions. Make connections.
Have your child draw and write stories, lists, notes, letters.
(Please do not spell words for your child. Ask them to write the sounds they hear when they say the word. Encourage approximated spelling by not correcting their written words. While approximating, children are using their higher level vocabulary while getting ready to spell conventionally.)
Practice daily life skills: tying shoes, zipping jackets, buttoning sweaters, pants.
